Project for a new airport terminal Plovdiv - third prize in the competition over MT September 26, 2008 | 14:27

This is a project for a new passenger terminal Letishte Plovdiv team manager Arch. Atanas Tosev. Arch participate. Borislav Vladimirov and arch. City ENVIRONMENT
The building of new passenger terminal at the airport of Plovdiv is situated in land N185. The plan of the airport are determined planning and functional relations between the terminal and new approaches to the airport, parking, approaches to the platform, holding the administrative buildings and garages of security, fire and heavy plant.
Volume - planning solution provides the building to be constructed in such parameters, reduced the requirements for built-up area of 5000 sq. meters and a height no more than 20 m.
The selected image is subject to the basic idea of the airport as a gateway to the world personification of human flight. The volume is composed of parallelepiped, symbolical of stability and calm, and Broadcast glass prism, open to the heavenly family. The approach to building the terminal is provided for parking and main entrance, clearly marked in the center of the building, visible from far away and easily accessible to passengers. The entrances and exits for departing and arriving passengers, transport and distribution of their luggage, are in accordance with predictions of the structural plan and technological scheme for fast and seamless service.

CEO DECISION

In solving the problem lie competition following principles:
- Technological consistency in service of passengers and their baggage handling;
- Separation of the different technological areas, sized according to the required capacity;
- Clear and simple communication and clearly dividing the various streams - departing, arriving, baggage handling;
- General spatial vision with the rapid orientation of service and comfort;
- Search economical solution through the most appropriate functional relationships between rooms and spaces needed for the operation of the terminal;
- Separation of space from the public hall posreshtachi, pending passengers and companions;
- Location of the most appropriate places for the management of premises and support staff and security, for technical and installation facilities.

Description of the different areas and architectural elements

Architectural design of the exterior and interior

The overall volume-spatial and architectural technological solution implies the use of effective, quick and easily enforceable, relatively economical, durable and easy to maintain materials. Suitable for this purpose are aluminum and glass composite materials.

Architectural design of the interior:
The idea for the architectural design of the interior is entirely subject to the principle of quick and easy orientation of departing and arriving passengers comfort of service in a pleasant environment.

The proposal is consistent with the climate features in the region of Plovdiv, having tested various versions of security - a few in summer and winter. The project explores the possibilities of fire protection standards, according to Bulgarian and aviation legislation. Large rooms in the building with high ceilings and very low fire load. Located high ceilings will allow smoke to rise over the inhabitants. Located on the roof hatches will be opened to smoke released. In all places where air passes from one network to another fire zone will be fitted with an automatic fire-control valves.

Electrical installations in the building will provide continuous and sustainable operation of the terminal, convenience and safety in operation and maintenance as well as for prospective development - changes in expansion and new passenger terminal at the Airport Plovdiv has provided 3 communications center. Under the communication center is certainly room, which is focused specialized passive and active equipment necessary for the operation of computer network and / or telephone installation.
